With their digital platform, the startup loomobox offers a solution for creating visual content. Building a disruptive product, loomobox is facing challenges and risks. It is therefore necessary to understand how UI/UX design can minimize these risks and contribute to the startup's success. The goal is to discover how UI/UX design can be successfully integrated into an agile work environment to create a positive user experience with the startup's digital product. To this end, the following research question is formulated: Which aspects of UI/UX design have to be considered to improve the existing website of the startup loomobox and to develop a profound design and consequently a groundwork for the image configurator of the startup?
To answer the research question, a definition of user experience design and user interface design was first carried out. During the literature research, agile methods were addressed in relation to UI/UX and the startup culture. A usability test was used to identify the weak points of the startup's website. A design approach for a product image configurator was developed in the design part of the thesis. The design approach was tested for usability through a click prototype with remote testing.
The literature review shows that user experience design and user interface design are two distinct design domains, but are strongly intertwined. The test results illustrate that the loomobox website can be enhanced by prioritizing and rephrasing its contents. In addition, the revised design approach results in a user-friendly basic structure for the configurator. This work is intended to enhance the further development of the loomobox configurator. Moreover, an initiation for the next iteration in the design process is provided.
